2018
Life sucks; even if it doesn’t right now it will at some point and that is why I am writing this blog. Design is about thinking and being open to the creative world in your head but life sucks and the mind is full of dark, sad and ugly things. This can make sitting down at a notepad or laptop very hard to focus and stopping the dark things overtaking the creative world that lives inside can seem impossible. I am hoping that here will document the journey of one girl find her inner world again.
“There's a time to weep. There's a time to mourn. And there is a time to dance” (Book of Samuel, 6:14) but it is very much from ‘Footloose’
I interpreted this quote my own way. There is a time to mourn and I am still not quite sure how to do that. 2017 was the year I hid; I avoided contact and refused to connect with many people who love me. I took 2017 to myself and became a hermit. Then 2018 arrived and it was time to try something new. I stopped being on my own and I started joining the world I left to see the colour that still exists.
To get my mind to stop going to dark places I need to be on. Always on. This means busy or occupied at all times and planning and organising is what helps. Therefore 2018 was a year to do things I love doing. Travel being at the forefront. My goal was one country every month and then squeeze as much design, adventure and people in!
By March I had sat in over 10 planes, visited 2 continents, 3 countries and 14 cities. 2018 was a year of confidence and experiencing as much of life as I could to find what I enjoy. I realised this was designing and working with like-minded people.
Sitting at the end of 2018 I can look back on an amazing year; in order Austrialian Road trip, Morzine France, Taurmina Sicily, Prague Czech Republic, Dublin, Ireland, Catania & Taurmina Sicily, Faro & Lisbon Portugal, Sao Paulo Brasil, Drumcoura Ireland, New York United States, Dublin Ireland. What a list! What is missing is all the people I met and the amazing experiences I had while in each place.
Going forward my plan is clear; design, love and just be me!
